The organization is seeking over 840 pounds of turkey and ham, 800 pounds of vegetables, several desserts and more to provide a Thanksgiving to remember for formerly homeless men, women and children.

“With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, many of us are reminded of the things we are most grateful for. We often reflect on friends, family and neighbors joining together to enjoy delicious food as well as the company of those who love us,” says Orange County Rescue Mission President, Jim Palmer. “At the OC Rescue Mission, we are dedicated to bringing the holiday spirit to the formerly homeless residents of the Village of Hope, and we need the community’s help in order to share this season of thanks.”

Several of the families who currently live at the Village of Hope have never experienced a traditional Thanksgiving meal, while others reminisce on the times when they were once able to gather around their own table to enjoy a festive meal.

“Thanksgiving is a time to express gratitude for the things that we are fortunate enough to have, and it is also a season to give to others,” notes Palmer. “Our goal is to give these families a beautiful holiday celebration, and we cannot do it without the open hearts and generosity of the local community.”
