2 Lost Hikers Rescued Near Eaton Canyon

Two women and their Chihuahua Kanga Roo were rescued from a riverbed near Eaton Canyon

ALTADENA, CA -- Two women and a Chihuahua were rescued while hiking near Eaton Canyon above Altadena, authorities said Saturday.

The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team was called at 6:19 p.m. Friday to search for the two hikers who were lost in the riverbed south of Eaton Canyon, according to the Altadena Sheriff's Station.

Rescue team members hiked into the area and quickly made voice contact with the hikers and reached the women within 10 minutes. They were located off the marked trail about a half-mile north of Altadena and Midwick drives in the riverbed, authorities said.

The hikers, a 20-year-old El Monte woman and a 24-year-old Altadena woman, along with a Chihuahua named Kanga Roo were led to a fire road and driven to their vehicle, authorities said.

No one was injured.
