Altadena Boy Escapes Death In Crash With Bus

An Altadena boy is lucky to be alive today after crashing into a city bus, according to paramedics.

ALTADENA, CA — A boy escaped serious injury Monday when the car he was driving struck a parked Metro bus in front of the sheriff's station in Altadena.

The youth -- whose name and age were withheld -- was the only occupant of the gray sedan, which struck the bus about 6:25 a.m. in front of the station at Altadena Drive and Lake Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

"The driver, (a) male juvenile, was walking around, and only complaining of pain from the car's airbag deploying," according to a sheriff's statement. "The driver was very lucky, (for) if the impact was only a few inches to the left or right, it most likely would have resulted in life- threatening injuries."
