Altadena Woman Attacked with Machete, Attacker At-Large

ALTADENA, CA -- A woman was attacked with a machete during a family disturbance this afternoon in Altadena.

Deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the 1500 block of East Altadena Drive and found the victim, who told them the suspect, who also lives at the home, attacked her with a machete, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

By then, the suspect had fled the location in a car, officials said.

"The victim was bleeding profusely and was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated for a laceration to the head," according to a sheriff's department statement. "The victim's injuries appear to be non-life- threatening."

The suspect's identity is known to the sheriff's department, but his name was withheld because of the active investigation, officials said.
