Today's riddle: What has 2 arms and a neck but no head? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• Collapse of SB 492 gives lawmakers more time. Will it lead to wildfire reform everyone will agree on? (mercurynews.com) — Altadena homeowners should watch SB 1090, the "Keep Altadena Lands in Altadena Hands Act," which would limit corporate developers from turning burned Eaton Fire lots into denser apartments and protect single-family patterns during recovery. Alongside broader wildfire reforms, it would set first-in-the-nation standards for cleaning toxic contamination in fire-damaged homes, with Gov. Newsom deciding by Sept. 30.
• Altadena Musical Theatre: Little Shop of Horrors (coloradoboulevard.net) — Altadena residents can catch Altadena Musical Theatre's outdoor production of "Little Shop of Horrors" at Mountain View Mausoleum, with performances running Thursdays through Sundays from September 3–13 at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $40–$82, and you can even pre-order a picnic dinner or volunteer as an usher to see the show for free while supporting local artists and businesses.
• What it takes to reopen 19 months after a wildfire (marketplace.org) — Altadena readers learn how longtime local staple Altadena Hardware is rebuilding after the Eaton Fire destroyed its Altadena location about 19 months ago. Owner Jimmy Orlandini has temporarily relocated operations to Arnold's Frontier Hardware in nearby Sierra Madre while planning an eventual return to a rebuilt Altadena store, sharing what recovery has required along the way.
