📰 News we're reading

1. Printing Finished on 3D-Printed Concrete Home for Altadena Eaton Fire Survivor (pasadenanow.com) — A fire-survivor in Altadena is getting Los Angeles County's first approved 3D-printed concrete home, with the robotic-printed walls now finished and inspections underway. The project aims to give Cindy Lopez a more fire-resilient, Spanish-style house, highlighting new rebuilding options and county permitting approaches that could matter for other Altadena Eaton Fire residents planning to reconstruct.

2. Why Do Altadena Homes for Sale Turn Up Wildly Different Median Home Prices? (johnhartrealestate.com) — Altadena's housing market has split in two since the Eaton Fire, leaving median price stats confusing for buyers. With thousands of homes lost and many cleared lots now for sale alongside surviving houses, residents and would-be buyers are urged to look closely at whether land sales are included in price data, pull the right comps, and understand the very different costs and timelines of rebuilding versus buying an intact home.

3. As Altadena recovery grows above ground, Edison utility work extends underground (dailynews.com) — Southern California Edison crews are actively undergrounding more than 60 miles of power lines across Altadena's Eaton Fire zone, with work now visible along Lake Avenue and nearby streets. Residents aren't charged for work in the public right of way but must pay to connect their homes, prompting Town Council scrutiny, cost estimates from $8,000 up, and calls for more transparency and potential financial relief.

4. Altadena initiative says help is here for seniors to 'Come Back Home' (dailynews.com) — Altadena seniors and families rebuilding after the devastating fire are being urged to tap new coordinated help, including nonprofit builders and a centralized recovery website launched by Altadena CDC. Local leaders say hundreds of properties remain without rebuild applications and small businesses are still struggling, and they're calling on residents to seek trusted assistance, support local shops, and help neighbors—especially elders—finally come back home.
