When It comes to beauty, there is something absolutely extraordinary about “the average woman”. We are not average because we aren’t professional models. We are average because we are human and we all function relatively the same. Professional models choose a career to model something as they would wear it themselves. Yes retouching is involved, however you can not retouch lifestyle and personality. I work with models of all kinds and my goal is to deliver hair and makeup that they feel confident enough to wear so that they can deliver to the lens and their audience. And believe me, when a model does not feel comfortable with hair and makeup that they can’t “live in”
It changes the delivery and confidence. (everything must be tailored)
This also rings true with my own experience, and experience of every “average woman” If we have a hairstyle or makeup, or wardrobe that does not reflect our own style and personalities, we feel awkward, and It causes our confidence to shift a little, maybe a lot! It makes me sad that when I request my friends or family to sit in as a model, they reply with “ if only I were beautiful” or “my nose is too big” or they immediately put them selves down because they are not apart of the beauty or fashion industry. Well hear this. EVERYONE is apart of this industry. Your nose may not look like the person next to you, but you wear it every day and it is yours. If you can take a selfie, instagram, FB, Snapchat, then you are already modeling your lifestyle. So essentially you are a model.
We see people every day face to face carrying on with daily activities, grocery shopping, gym, commuting, working, laughing, hanging out, vacationing. Whatever else it may be. And we are comfortable with doing these daily activities because it is apart of life. So live life as you do. Wear something as you see fit, do not be discouraged because it looks different on some one else. We are all the same types of beings in different packages, and each package is beautiful.
