Board of Supes. Approves Changes To Traffic Regulations

Changes to traffic regulations will be coming to Altadena streets after the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved an updated set of regulations last week.

The changes range from establishing/changing speed limits on certain streets, to establishing stop control in other areas. All changes for Altadena and other communities named in the agenda items were deemed necessary to "improve traffic safety and enhance flow," according to county documents.

Changes coming:

  • Rescinding of a traffic regulation which prohibited stopping between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., on school days only, on the north side of Altadena Drive between Casitas Avenue between a point 48 feet and a point 208 feet east of Casitas.
  • Adopt a traffic regulation which prohibited parking between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., on school days only, on the north side of Altadena Drive between Casitas Avenue and a point 350 feet east of Casitas.
  • Rescinding a traffic regulation establishing a 30 mile per hour speed limit on Fair Oaks Avenue between Loma Alta Drive and Altadena Drive.
  • Adopt a traffic regulation order establishing a 35 mile per hour speed limit on Fair Oaks Avenue between Loma Alta Drive and Altadena Drive.
  • Adopt a traffic regulation order establishing stop control for southbound traffic on Olive Avenue at Crosby Street.
  • Adopt a traffic regulation order establishing stop control for southbound traffic on Grandeur Avenue at Crosby Street.

The changes were generated by residents and community groups of the respective communities, officials said.
