Coffee Grounds for Your Compost

Coffee grounds are a good way to increase your compost on the cheap.

My mother in law is a smart lady.  She suggested that I go to Starbucks for used coffee grounds for my compost.  I thought it was a good idea so I tried it.  On a Saturday morning, I went to some coffee shops in Altadena.

The best is the Altadena Starbucks at Von's  (Washington & Allen).  They have it packaged and ready.  A+

The next is Altadena Starbucks at Washington & Allen (south side of the street).  They will give you as much as they have in a trash bag and they have a lot.  I got 60 lbs. in one visit.  It will need to be strained when you get it home.  The paper filter is included.  B+

Here's how it works. Coffee grounds are a nutritional additive for your soil .  In addition, it keeps the coffee grounds out of landfills, reduces the environmental footprint and it will make your garden happier.

The best part?  It's free!  Just ask for their used coffee grounds for your compost. Most places are happy to give them to you.
