If you want to know what's going on in your neighborhood, ask your postman or delivery driver. They probably are in your neighborhood more than you are.
I am self-employed and I get deliveries at my home often. I always ask these guys if they are thirsty or if they have enough water. I know them. Yesterday, a delivery driver told me there were a couple of break-ins on my street. He was able to tell me all the details. He knew the homes and provided valuable information about these homes and their inhabitants.
I asked him if he ever saw people around homes that he felt were suspicious looking and he answered yes. I asked "What do you do?". He said I always call the police and I did this twice last week.

Your mailman and delivery man are more than they appear to be. They are an extra set of eyes - they are a security force. They are quite helpful to every neighborhood in Altadena- that's for sure.
So the next time you get mail, remember.... that guy (gal) is out in your neighborhood Monday - Saturday and doing more than delivering your mail.
