The Scoop: TEDxYouth@7thStreet---Ideas Worth Spreading

Join Aveson Charter School and the International Studies School Network, West Coast Schools for a TEDxYouth event focusing on global education on May 5, 2012.  This independently organized event is licensed by TED and attendees will observe inspirational student and adult speakers focusing on 21st-century skills and globalized learning as they share their ideas and experiences with the four global competencies:

Investigate the World--Communicate Ideas--Weigh Perspectives--Take Action

Be inspired and motivated and be part of a youth movement in global education. TEDxYouth@7thStreet honors the essential involvement of our youth in global education in collaboration with concerned adults making a difference.  Get involved and let your voice be heard. 

Following presentations, there will be opportunities to network and share ideas and inspiration.

In addition to the student presenters, be inspired by the following speakers who were selected and invited by the organizing students:

Kerry Kennedy (daughter of Robert Kennedy) – Humanitarian efforts and the legacy of her father

Paul Schrade – RFK’s vision of education

Brandon Wiley, Director of the ISSN Network, New York – Global Competencies and the ISSN

Christine Lenches-Henkel – Wasteless Living

Kristina Von Hoffman – Alliance for Climate Education

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.  At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.  These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.  The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
