Critical Alert Issued For Missing Altadena Boy

Authorities are asking for help finding a missing Altadena teen with critical medical issues.

ALTADENA, CA — Authorities Wednesday are asking for help finding a 16- year-old diabetic boy who went missing in Altadena. He is the latest of several runaways to flee a group home in Altadena.

The boy DeJuan Rhodes is in need of medication, authorities said.

"He is diabetic -- insulin dependent -- and requires additional medication," according to a sheriff's statement. "His family and caregivers have not seen or heard from him. They are very concerned and asking for the public's help in located him."

Rhodes was last seen at his group home in the 2900 block of El Nido Drive about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported. He is black, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs about 140 pounds, and has brown eyes and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark blue shorts.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the sheriff's Altadena Station at (626) 798-1131, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
