Home school groups love MakeSpace ARTS because we offer one-time or ongoing art classes. Our classes can be tailored in length and content according to the group's educational goals. Popular curricula include clay, drawing, painting, collage; recycle art, fabric arts, and installation art. If this schedule does not meet your needs, please talk to us and we can work with you to schedule individual classes at your convenience.
Our Thursday class is optional parent participation; we feel that this fosters shared creativity and family bonding, as well as self-expression. Our hope is that our classes can help energize and support the teaching that you do at home.
This group is for students ages 3 and up, we work with each student and modify projects as needed according to his or her skill level and understanding of the material. Students will be introduced to a range of historic artworks, artists, art theory, and technique.
The fee includes basic materials; in some rare cases projects may require an additional material fee. For example, if we do ceramics we will have to fire them off-site and pay kiln fees.
Children’s Classes are taught by Sara Hunsucker, Co-owner of MakeSpace ARTS. Sara holds a BFA in Painting from Otis College of Art and Design, and a MFA in Painting, Sculpture, and Installation from University of California, San Diego. She is a professional exhibiting artist. She is currently also working as an adjunct sculpture professor at Pasadena City College, and she has been in museum and art education for 15 years.
