Ken O'Malley Solo Concert: Samhain and Halloween, The Celtic Connection

Ken O’Malley will have a few stories to tell at his concert about the end of the old year and the beginning of the new in the ancient Celtic calendar. Halloween, the name that comes from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced ‘Sowen’ ) was introduced when Christianity arrived with the Romans in the British Isles during the 1st century A.D.

The Christian religious called this festival that was the Celtic New Year, All Hallows Eve which eventually became Halloween.

Dublin born Ken O’Malley's rich, resonant voice and engaging stage presence have delighted audiences for over thirty years. “He holds nothing back. Whether singing a passionate ballad, playing a solo on the mandolin, or explaining the gloriously sad history of Erin his homeland, Ken O’Malley is all-in, wide open to the world, and as true as an arrow’s flight.  .  . His wonderful wit and good humor draw us in and carry us along, and the beauty of his songs, both traditional and original, fills us with irresistible joy.” ----Wayne Slater, Desert Song Productions.
