Red Car Trolley to Add a Stop in San Gabriel
Los Angeles, CA. [March 10, 2013] — Join vocal quartet Red Car Trolley on April 7, at 4:30 p.m. as they make a stop at Church of Our Saviour in San Gabriel. On the afternoon's itinerary is a jaunt through the bountiful territories of American Madrigals and Folk Songs. For those who have never heard of American Madrigals, the concert offers a unique opportunity to discover what happens to an old European tradition in the hands of Stateside composers. Highlights of the concert will include Kirke Mechem’s "American Madrigal" Song Cycle, secular and sacred works by American composers Aaron Copland, Stephen Foster, Jean Berger, Ulysses Kay, and Southern Californian composers Michal Connor, Morten Lauridsen, and Robert Parker.
“I know these singers voices intimately in sacred song and am in high anticipation of what they will do with the American folksongs' contemporary settings," said Phil Smith, Minister of Music and Organist at Church of Our Saviour. "I recently heard them in another venue and can’t wait to hear their sound in our sanctuary."
Lauri's List which serves Southern California concert goers, recently wrote of Red Car Trolley, “this able quartet takes on fun and innovative programs with beautiful singing and increasing momentum.”
