UPDATED, 3 p.m.: Fire fighters knocked down the apartment complex blaze, said Inspector Tony Akins.
At least civilian fatality was reported. Akins had no information on the age, gender or nature of the fatality.
The fire extended into the attic and was knocked down a little after 2 p.m., Akins said.
PREVIOUSLY: Fire fighters are continuing to battle an apartment complex fire in the 2600 block of North Lincoln Avenue.
Fire fighters were dispatched to the fire at 1:34 p.m. in a two-story apartment building. Fire fighters discovered fire burning in an attic of the structure, said Inspector Tony Akins with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Fire fighters have requested a second alarm response for additional support, equaling five additional engines and more ladder trucks, Akins said.
About 50 fire personnel are on scene battling the fire.
Deputies with the Altadena Sheriff's Station were conducting traffic control in the area and were assisting with evacuating people from the apartment complex, according to Sheriff's scanner traffic.
Fire fighters have requested a Code F, which is called in for a fatality, however Akins did not have further information on how many people might have possibly perished.
