Highlights from Tuesday's Town Council Meeting

There was quite a crowd at Tuesday night's Altadena Town Council meeting; standing room only.

The new officer selection went without a hitch. Meet your new Altadena Town Council Executive Officers:

Chair: Diane Marcussen
Vice Chair: Okorie Ezieme
Secretary Recording: Brent Musson
Secretary Corresponding: Richard Moon
Treasurer: Amy Cienfuegos

But what really packed the house: a conditional use permit application for a banquet hall, part of a restaurant still under construction at the northeast corner of Altadena Drive and Washington Boulevard

A large percentage of public comment opposed the banquet hall, concerned that additional traffic and noise would affect the quality of life in their residential neighborhood.

During public comment/input, 44 were against the CUP, and 14 in favor. Those in favor said our local area lacks facilities for parties and weddings, and that the community in general would benefit from greater commercial development.

The ATC voted  unanimously against granting a CUP for the banquet hall; a letter will be sent to Regional Planning recommending denial.
