Hiker Rescued Near Altadena

ALTADENA, CA -- - A Los Angeles Sheriff's Department helicopter was utilized Saturday to rescue a woman who was injured while hiking the Strawberry Peak Trail in the Angeles National Forest north of Altadena, authorities said.

The plight of the 58-year-old woman was reported to the sheriff's department about 2:30 p.m., Deputy Armando Viera of the Sheriff's Information Bureau said.

A sheriff's search and rescue team located the woman, Viera said. An LASD helicopter airlifted her to an awaiting ambulance for transport to a hospital to evaluate a minor injury.
