In Honor of Gabriel Garcia Marquez

On Thursday, April 17, 2014, prolific and inspiring writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez passed away at the age of 87. As stated by NPR, Marquez "remains Latin America's best-known writer." A master of the genre known as magical-realism, Marquez fills his novels with vivid and enchanting events and characters. His most famous work, One Hundred Years of Solitude, is a story inspired by his grandparents and their own vivid stories and their town. Marquez went on to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982.

We highly encourage our patrons to pick one up today in honor of this inspiring and influential Latin American author.
