
- A U.S. Olympic Team Member and NCAA champion will be a guest teacher at two upcoming classes at Silverlake Fencing.
The woman -- her identity will be revealed to those who attend her classes -- will hold classes in two locations on two dates:
- Thursday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 p.m. at Studio A Dance, 2306 Hyperion Ave., in Silverlake;
- Sunday, Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. at The Sweat Spot, 3327 Sunset Blvd.
The guest fencer was a 2012 Olympian and is a former NCAA champion from Pennsylvania State University (Penn State Nittany Lions).
This is a chance to learn from an Olympian.

Silverlake Fencing was founded by internationally competitive fencer Karolyn Szot, who fenced on Northwestern University’s varsity team and ranked 17th in her last North American Cup.
Silverlake Fencing offers a chance for children, teens and adults to get started, or to enhance their skills, in the unique and rewarding sport.
LOCATION
The Sweat Spot is not visible from the street.
It is directly behind Tarasco’s Tacos at 3319 W. Sunset Blvd. Visitors may enter through the parking lot next to Tarasco’s.
There is street parking only. Meter operation on Sunset Blvd runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday. No meters on Sunday.
Meter parking costs $1 per hour, with a two-hour maximum. Additional free parking is available on streets off Sunset Boulevard.
