Updated: Police Arrest Three for Shootings in Altadena and Pasadena

A joint Altadena and Pasadena operation aimed at suspected gang members responsible for recent shootings in both cities has netted eight arrests, two for attempted murder in a last month, and one for a murder that took place in January.

The names, ages, and charges for those arrested are:

3. Jaszmine Jenkins, 19, Monrovia Resident, Attempted Homicide
4. Bengarmain Gay, 26 Altadena Resident, Warrant Arrest
5. Jesse Johnson, 35, Altadena Resident, Non-Compliance & Warrant
6. Eric Hartfield, 41, Altadena Resident, Miscellaneous Felony
7. Robert Rucker, 41, Los Angeles Resident, Miscellaneous Felony
8. Shamella Walton, 30, Los Angeles, Child Endangerment

Jones and Jenkins are being charged with the Marengo and Sacramento shooting on March 16, where police described the victim as a gang member who refused to cooperate with police.

After being fired upon, the victim, who gave his birth year as 1972, immediately fled the scene and was found about a quarter mile away. 

He was taken to a local hospital and treated, but refused to give the police any information about his assailants.  Detectives described him as a rival gang member at the time, and were able to follow up on the case with an eyewitness account from a bystander at the scene.

Wright is being charged with the murder of 47-year-old Donnell Taylor, who was shot in Pasadena on January 19.  According to the Los Angeles Times, Taylor was shot in the 1700 block of Summit Avenue, and a suspected shooter was seen running away from the scene of the crime by witnesses.

Police had filed nine search warrants at various locations in both cities, as well as Los Angeles and Monrovia.  The locations included the home of , who was fatally shot in February, according to Lt. Joe Dempsey of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Altadena station.

All the locations where there were warrant searches conducted had suspected gang ties to a gang responsible for the shootings, Dempsey said, though in the case of Jackson's home, he said detectives do not believe there was an actual gang member living there.

Dempsey said that none of the searches were for the suspects in the Jackson shooting, but rather in several attempted shootings that have taken place since and were likely in retaliation for Jackson's slaying, including the Marengo and Sacramento one.

Pasadena Police Chief Phillip Sanchez said in a press release Thursday that he expects that additional arrests to be made in coming days.
