Police Blotter: Investigation Continues into Murder of Muir High Student

Along with Altadena's weekly residential and vehicle burglaries, the community was shocked this week to learn of the shooting death of an 18-year-old Muir High student.

Wednesday, February 9, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. - A residential burglary occurred in the 2200 block of Navarro Avenue. The suspect(s) entered via an unlocked window. The residence was ransacked and a black Samsung 42" television, a black Samsung BluRay player, and a silver Aeas digital camera were stolen.

Between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Thursday - A grand theft occurred in the 600 block of Devirian Place. A beige washing machine, a green and yellow John Deere lawn mower, a red Lincoln welder, a wood and leather horse hoe, and a push lawn mower were stolen from an unsecured backyard.

Thursday, February 10, between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Friday - A petty theft occurred in the 900 block of Wapello Street. A purple Phat beach cruiser, a green Pulling Rock beach cruiser, and a red Schwinn mountain bike were stolen.

Friday, February 11, 12:06 p.m. - A residential burglary occurred in the 2600 block of Santa Rosa Avenue. The suspect(s) entered the residence by prying open the front door.  A silver MacBook 13" was stolen. Possible descriptions of the suspect(s): 1) Male and female, African-American, driving a light blue 4-door vehicle, or 2) Two male Hispanics in a white pick up truck.

Between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. - A vehicle burglary occurred at Eaton Canyon Nature Center, located at 1750 N. Altadena Drive. The suspect(s) entered the vehicle by shattering the front passenger window. A brown and white Coach purse, ID, and miscellaneous currency were stolen.

Saturday, February 12, 10:40 p.m. - Deputies responded to the area of 300 W. Palm Street after receiving a call of shots fired. Upon arrival, deputies were advised by citizens that an 18-year-old African-American male was shot and transported to the hospital by friends. Additional deputies responded to the hospital and were advised that the victim was deceased. Further investigation reveal that a red 4-door Sedan was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed. The investigation is ongoing.

Monday, February 14, between 4:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. - A residential burglary occurred in the 100 block of E. Woodbury Road. The suspect(s) entered a trailer by removing the lock and chain which secured the front door. A black Acer Aspire 15" laptop was stolen.
