PREMIERE OF ALTA-LA POETRY SERIES WITH TOP POETS & OPEN MIC AT ALTADENA LIBRARY!

Circle the third Thursdays in September, October, and November on your calendar right now! Because that’s when ALTA-LA, a new poetry series hosted by Linda Dove, Altadena Library’s Poet Laureate, will take place and you want to be there!  Although the library officially closes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursdays, it will re-open for the 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. program. ALTA-LA boasts a spectacular lineup with Peter Ludwin and Lois P. Jones in September.  October will be a bilingual event with three Latina poets, Vibiana Aparicio-Chamberlin, Gerda Govine Ituarte, and Thelma T. Reyna. November will be another outstanding lineup with Mary Fitzpatrick and Brendan Constantine. All are highly regarded, multi-award winning poets.

Linda Dove suggested the name ALTA-LA to show the breadth of this series since it includes well-known poets throughout the Los Angeles area.  Peter Ludwin comes all the way from the state of Washington. And if you have some poetry in you, there will also be an open mic. Stop in to enjoy the company and poetry of these accomplished and spirited writers. You are guaranteed a great evening!

This free series is sponsored by the Friends of the Altadena Library District.  These events are supported by Poets & Writers, Inc. through a grant it has received from the James Irvine Foundation.
