Suspect in Altadena Machete Attack Arrested
Deputies set up a containment area to capture a man suspected of slashing a woman with a machete during a domestic disturbance.

ALTADENA, CA -- A 45-year-old man suspected of using a machete to attack a woman with whom he lived in Altadena was due to be arraigned Friday.
Gaines Ashley Boyd was taken into custody about 11 p.m. Wednesday, hours after he drove from the location in the 1500 block of East Altadena Drive, according to Lt. Carmichael Octave of the sheriff's Altadena Station.
Deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance at the address Wednesday afternoon and found the victim, who told them the suspect, who also lives at the home, attacked her with a machete, according to Octave.

By then, the suspect had fled the location in a car, Octave said.
"The victim was bleeding profusely and was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated for a laceration to the head," according to a sheriff's department statement.

The woman's injuries were not life-threatening, officials said.
Boyd fled on foot after being spotted by deputies from the sheriff's Temple Station and was captured inside a containment area. He was booked at the sheriff's Crescenta Valley Station on suspicion of assault, Octave said.
Boyd was being held at the Inmate Reception Center in downtown Los Angeles in lieu of $75,000 bail, according to sheriff's inmate records.
Octave said Boyd was due to be arraigned on Friday.
