Woman, 69, Dies After Collapsing on Hiking Trail
The unidentified woman was hiking with friends on the Sam Merrill Trail when her she stopped breathing and her heart stopped beating.

ALTADENA, CA - A 69-year-old woman died while hiking on a trail in the Angeles National Forest north of Altadena, authorities said Sunday.
The unidentified woman was hiking with friends on the Sam Merrill Trail when her she stopped breathing and her heart stopped beating about 12:40 p.m., according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Bystanders performed CPR for a full hour before Los Angeles County firefighters arrived and pronounced her dead at the scene, deputies said.

The woman was almost two miles into the trail when she collapsed, deputies said.
