2. Standard Communities Breaks Ground on 428 Affordable Homes in Antioch (contracosta.news) — Hundreds of new income-restricted apartments are now under construction in Antioch, bringing 428 affordable homes for local workers at two Joyfield Flats communities on Lone Tree Way and Buchanan Road. Backed by private financing and federal tax credits, the projects use Antioch's Commercial Infill Housing Overlay for streamlined approval and are slated to open in 2028 with family-friendly layouts and on-site amenities.

One of two women swimming along Antioch waterfront rescued; search continues for second (antiochherald.com) — Emergency crews in Antioch are still searching for a 54-year-old woman who disappeared in strong currents near Smith's Landing Seafood Grill after swimming with another woman who was rescued. Antioch Police, the Coast Guard, and county agencies continue water and air searches, and investigators say no foul play is suspected while they work to confirm the women's identities and circumstances.
4. Golden Mussels Found in Lake Del Valle; New Boat Quarantine Takes Effect Open Governance (opgov.news) — If you boat at Contra Loma in Antioch, your watercraft now faces a 30‑day quarantine before it can launch at other East Bay Regional Park lakes, due to invasive golden mussels. The same rules just imposed at Lake Del Valle include inspections, small fees, and strict clean‑drain‑dry steps to protect regional waterways.
