Advisory committee members also criticized the district's preparation, and more meetings are planned, including one at Pajaro Middle School, giving Aptos families a crucial chance to weigh in on their children's school futures.
   

• Santa Cruz County business filings: Week of Oct. 6 (lookout.co) — Two new Aptos ventures just registered with the county: FREQLIFE BAITS on Cathedral Drive and Arete Psychotherapy on Valencia Road, adding fresh options for local services and jobs. The full filings list also shows a wave of new shops, wellness providers, and creative enterprises launching across Santa Cruz County, hinting at a steadily evolving local business landscape.
   

• Santa Cruz County homicide victim identified (kron4.com) — A man found shot to death on Larkin Valley Road near Windsong Way, between Aptos and Watsonville, has been identified as 39-year-old Christopher Fagon. Santa Cruz County deputies quickly arrested a Watsonville man they say knew the victim, and he is now being held without bail as detectives continue investigating what led to the killing along this route many Aptos residents regularly travel.
