• Forged Steel best in G1 Goodwood Stakes (pastthewire.com) — A major Grade I horse race at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia saw longshot Forged Steel surge clear to win the $300,000 Goodwood Stakes and earn an automatic berth in the Breeders' Cup Classic. The four-year-old colt, ridden by Edwin Gonzalez, beat stablemate Caldera while last year's winner Nevada Beach settled for third. Trainers and jockeys say the performance sets Forged Steel up for a big fall campaign.
