Arcadia Area Brush Fire Now 50-percent Contained

The Marek Fire, reported Monday afternoon inthe Angeles National Forest, burned through 50 acres of brush before being contained, Tuesday.

A fire that broke out Monday in the Angeles National Forest near Tujunga burned about 50 acres of brush, but no structures were threatened.

The Marek Fire was reported about 5:20 a.m. in the 13000 block of Little Tujunga Road and was listed as 50 percent contained as of early afternoon, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The Angeles National Forest's Arcadia office reported that the fire's forward progress had been stopped.

Los Angeles city and county firefighters were assisting Angeles National Forest firefighters in the effort to extinguish the flames, along with three water-dropping helicopters.
