Arcadia Unified School District has launched its first ever student-run podcast, published on Mondays and are posted onto Podbean & iTunes.

ARCADIA, CA — Arcadia Unified School District’s (AUSD) Digital Communications Internship (DCI) has taken an initiative in audio broadcasting methods with arcadiaunified.podbean.com.
The DCI podcast, produced by a group of interns, and led by host Jeffrey Lee, are published on Mondays and are posted onto Podbean and iTunes.
The past episodes include the various academic teams in Arcadia including the Constitution Team, Math Team, and Science Olympiad. A variety of sports teams such as Tennis, Badminton, and Track & Field have also been featured on the audio shows. Other extracurriculars around school such as Yearbook and Senior Men and Women (SMW) are not to be forgotten and have been included in the weekly productions as well.

These podcasts are rarely limited to the bounds of Arcadia High School, as they frequently go beyond the borders of the high school to explore areas of interest in Arcadia, such as in “10 Things to Do in LA,” and “Where to Go Out for Food Next.” The hosts swap out when looking for new content to individualize and creates a fresh atmosphere for the listeners. The different voices and interviewees provide an upbeat change in style and persona which adds to the flexibility and resilience of the podcasts.
The Arcadia Unified Student Podcast team is led by Jeffrey Lee and consists of high school students Brandon Chen, Jarett Yip, Katie Wen, Kelly Lee, Lulan Yu, Pengchi Xiao, and Reiko Inoue. To keep up with weekly podcasts, the team starts by pitching ideas and members volunteer to take them. They individually record segments and send them in to the editor, Pengchi Xiao, to create the final product before it is published to Podbean and iTunes.

Brandon Chen, a DCI intern, shares his experiences being apart of the DCI podcast team:
“I really like how we are able to freely share ideas and work out a weekly schedule to fit everyone's needs. These podcasts have given me something new to explore and have provided me opportunities to go out and reach out to people I would otherwise never have the chance to talk to. I really think that these podcasts add to the overall well-roundedness of DCI and what the program and AUSD have to offer.”
A fellow Apache, Jonathan Figueira, offers his opinion of the weekly broadcasts:
¨I think these broadcasts show us the inner workings of the many activities held on campus as well as the intricate layers beneath all of the teams and programs Arcadia has to offer. I also enjoy hearing my classmates voices come on, especially if I am close friends with them. That makes it all the more enjoyable.”
There are high hopes for this team of Interns and where they will go with the next episode. Be sure to catch the latest episodes here at arcadiaunified.podbean.com.
