Behind the Sun visor

Goodness hidden in a moment of despair.

I was disappointed that I arrived for work early. I’m not going to go in just quite yet, I said to myself as I spread the car sun visor over the dash board.

Browsing through my email while sitting in my car killing time, I noticed a blue colored car pull into the drive way directly in front of me. That’s really close I remember thinking, must be a big car.

Peering curiously through the narrow space between the sun visor and my car front window I watched with sheer astonishment as the driver of that big blue car, a woman, put her car in reverse and backed right into a parked car at the curb directly behind her.

Bang! It was so loud, “oh my gosh, look what she just did!” Then she pulled out away from the car, turning to the left, she continued down the street as if nothing had ever happened. To her it was just another day in L.A.

As she made her turn I continued to watch her, hidden secretly behind the sun visor in my car. I managed to memorize her license plate numbers and jot them down along with the description of the car. I then placed a note on the wind shied of the car that woman just senselessly backed into.

“You’re an angel,” my manager said to me, after I explained to her what just happened. No, I’m no angel, I am a human being, doing what comes natural, looking out for my fellow man, or maybe a woman. When did that become angelic?

I was disappointed that I arrived for work early that day. I’m not going in quite yet, I remember thinking. Unbeknownst to me, there was something else I needed to do, a selfless act of kindness that would help another. Goodness hidden in a moment of despair.

A reason behind the reason, or should I say, behind the warm rays of Light beaming downward onto a sun visor.
