The vehicle was found down an embankment.

Update:

A man was found dead today near the site where a car crashed down an embankment from a road in the Angeles National Forest north of Arcadia, and sheriff’s officials said late this afternoon it appeared to be a suicide case.

Firefighters were sent to the 2200 block of Santa Anita Canyon Road shortly before 8 a.m. and pronounced the man, who was about 25 years old, dead at the scene, according to county fire and California Highway Patrol officials.

When coroner’s investigators arrived, they called deputies’ attention to things that made the crash appear to be a suicide, said Sgt. Ann Devane of the Temple Sheriff’s Station. She said she could not immediately elaborate.

CHP investigators, who were working to determine when the crash occurred, turned the case over to sheriff’s deputies because they do not investigate suicides in Los Angeles County, said CHP Officer Alex Rubio.
