California State Issues Mandatory Face Covering Order; County Moves Further Into Stage 3 Recovery
This action coincides with the statewide order issued today.
June 18, 2020
Governor Newsom ordered all California residents to wear face coverings while in public or high-risk settings, including when shopping, taking public transit, or seeking medical care, following growing concerns that an increase in coronavirus cases has been caused by residents failing to voluntarily take this precaution. The California Department of Public Health issued new Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings for the use of cloth face coverings by the general public when outside the home. It mandates that face coverings be worn statewide. In addition, Los Angeles County is moving further into Phase 3 of the Roadmap to Recovery by opening more businesses including cardrooms, wagering facilities, personal care establishments, bars, and wineries. The new order also requires all persons to wear cloth face-coverings whenever they leave their residence. This action coincides with the statewide order issued today. The County continues to monitor the spread of the virus and the capacity of the healthcare system to provide residents with essential services; however, this major step forward does not mean the threat of COVID-19 is gone. Residents must continue to practice physical distancing, wear cloth face coverings, and follow public health directives. Please check back for more updates as they become available.
