ChapCare Health Center serves as Principal for a Day in Duarte, CA

The Duarte Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Principal for a Day on November 2nd, 2016. ChapCare was selected to visit Maxwell Elementary, an International Baccalaureate World School that serves Kindergarten to 6th grade in the city of Duarte.

Principal Kelly Buckley walked ChapCare employees through the elementary, and described Maxwell's uniqueness. She explained the rigorous journey it took to become one of few the International Baccalaureate (IB) Schools in Los Angeles County. The three year process demanded a great deal of dedication and effort from all staff members.

The extra work paid off. The school received its IB status years ago, which allows Maxwell to provide students with an inquiry-based learning environment. ChapCare employees experienced first-hand how this shapes the classroom. Words such as "opinion" and "risk-taking" were observed on classroom walls.
