Coroner IDs Victim of Murder-Suicide In Arcadia: Cops

ARCADIA, Ca — An Arcadia woman who was shot before her estranged husband turned the gun on himself, was identified Thursday, according to Arcadia police.

Investigators went to the 800 block of Sunset Boulevard about 8:20 a.m. Aug. 1 to find Mel Mingyu Liu, 49, of Arcadia shot and her estranged husband deceased at the scene. The man was believed to have shot his wife inside her home, and then shot himself, according to the coroner's office.

Mel MingYu Lu later died at a hospital, and Cherry Liu, 40, died at the scene, the coroner's office reported. The identity of the spouse has not yet been released.

The pair were married but living separately, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which assisted Arcadia police in the investigation.
