Man Fatally Stabs Father, Gets Prison in West Covina
A man who fatally stabbed his father was sentenced to five years in state prison, DA says.

WEST COVINA, CA — West Covina resident Maverick Jimenez, 21, who was convicted of fatally stabbing his father during a fight at their West Covina home in 2015, was sentenced Wednesday to five years in state prison.
Jimenez waived credit for the year he has already spent behind bars in connection with the Aug. 16, 2015, death of his 49-year-old father, Joey Jimenez, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
Jimenez pleaded no contest Oct. 12 to involuntary manslaughter and admitted an allegation that he used a knife in the commission of the crime, according to Deputy District Attorney Marie Cox.

Officers who were called to the victim's home in response to a 911 call found him dead on the floor. His son was arrested a short time later and has remained in county jail since then.
