Sunday, May 8
At 5:42 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 200 block of East Camino Real Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a male patient who was experiencing chest pain and shortness of breath. The patient received advanced life support at the scene, including a 12-lead electrocardiogram and drug therapy for pain management. The patient was transported to Arcadia for further evaluation and treatment.
Monday, May 9
At 6:27 p.m., Engine 107 responded to an outdoor fire in the 700 block of Carriage House Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a small vegetation fire in the rear of the property, apparently caused by faulty outdoor landscape lighting. Fire personnel shut off the electricity to the lighting then extinguished and overhauled the burned area utilizing Class A foam.
Tuesday, May 10
At 10:36 a.m. Engine 105, Engine 106, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, Battalion 105 and units from the Monrovia Fire Department responded to a reported natural gas leak in a structure in the 300 block of Campus Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a public assembly building with the occupants being evacuated. Fire personnel were met by staff, who stated that the odor was coming from the kitchen. Fire crews investigated further and found the source of the leak at a malfunctioning appliance. Fire personnel shut off the gas and ventilated the building to remove the gas.
Wednesday, May 11
At 3:24 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 400 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a male patient unconscious and unresponsive. Fire personnel evaluated the patient further and found the patient to be in respiratory arrest. The patient received advanced life support at the scene, including intubation, intravenous access, drug therapy, and cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, May 12
At 8:27 a.m., Truck 105 was dispatched as part of a third alarm assignment to a structure fire in the 1400 block of Garfield Ave in the City of Alhambra. Automatic aid was provided as part of the Unified Response Agreement, in which all eleven fire departments of Region 1, Area C participate. Upon arrival, fire personnel placed the ladder pipe from Truck 105 in service after the roof of the structure collapsed and all fire fighting personnel evacuated the building. Elevated master streams from four truck companies were utilized to bring the fire under control.
Saturday, May 14
At 5:33 p.m., Engine 106 and Monrovia Squad 101 responded to a medical assist in the 700 block of West Camino Real. Upon arrival, fire personnel treated an elderly female who had fallen. The patient received advanced life support at the scene, including drug therapy for pain management. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 475 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
Volunteer Weekly Activity Report
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 12 hours of volunteer activities. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their valuable time last week in assisting the Department with administrative duties in the Fire Prevention Bureau and processing emergency medical services forms and paramedic reports. It is worth noting that all volunteers and Department personnel who have access to emergency medical services forms and paramedic reports are trained on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule.
