The Happiest Nerd Place On Earth
Three days in the desert and I think my laptop, Hal the computer, and I have finally engaged in what could be…"a beautiful friendship."

So last week, I spent three days plus in Arizona and nope, I wasn’t held over for questioning and wasn’t awaiting extradition.
Last time I spent multiple days in the desert (while not in Sin City or Santa Anita Golf Course) I was taking a Cal State LA Ecology class and we were out there at night setting traps for Kangaroo rats. And now you know why you shouldn’t have asked.
Thing is, my stay in Chandler, just outside of Phoenix, was amazing…and…it actually rained.

During my intense 24-hours spent during three training days at the ultra-progressive Infusionsoft University in Chandler, I had more “Aha” moments than in any three trips around the Krebs cycle. And even though the “U” doesn’t field a football team, its spacious headquarters does have a football field…and much more.
Day One arrived and before I could even get my laptop online, I learned the distinction between geeks and nerds. It’s like geeks are all caught up and excited in the process (sort of like Former VP Dick Cheney sitting in a roomful of Big Macs) and Nerds have calmly got stuff mostly figured out (like Yoda.)

Anyway, the software we’re learning and will be using is impressive in its completeness, flexibility, and its ability to address a vital need in a very personalized way. The system will propel our communication and service to a level you reserve for folks you see as family and friends. And just as there is no crying in baseball (unless you’re a Dodger fan) there are virtually and otherwise no cracks to fall through in Infusionsoft.
Outside of the classroom and touring the Infusionsoft campus, I walked in, made a right turn at the football field and was greeted with “We Face Challenges with Optimism.” Off to the right, on about the 38-yard line, a Dream Manager was huddled with another team member crafting a personal vision into a reality. Just past the totally full Cereal Station and above the coffee counter, I read “We Listen + We Care + We Serve.” Trainer Brett confessed the first 7-days for new hires is really “Drink the Kool Aid” week. And there was a lot of ping-pong, creativity, and humanity going on just about everywhere you could find super-smart people walkin’ around in Hawaiian shirts, cargo pants, and flip-flops. To me, it seemed like a visit to the happiest nerd place on earth.
Infusionsoft serves small businesses AND their clients, customers, and patients; they provide leading edge technology that helps build personalized experiences. Infusionsoft is a corporate model my small business would love to emulate…and I guarantee you, I’ve never published that statement before.
