Kentucky Derby Winner Won't Be Coming to Arcadia for Breeder's Cup

The Daily Racing Form says that a puffy ankle will keep Nyquist out of the race.

It was supposed to be a big race for Nyquist but the Kentucky Derby winner will not be running in the Breeder's Cup Classic on Saturday November 5th.

The Classic was going to be the last race for Nyquist, who won the Breeder's Cup Juvenile last year. He was going to be retired to a stud life after the race.

The Daily Racing Form reported Saturday morning that Nyquist is being forced out by a "puffy ankle."

"He jogs sound and the X-rays are clean," Nyquist's trainer Doug O'Neill told the paper. "But with the timing he can't make the Classic. We're bummed and sad."

After winning the Derby, Nqyuist finished third in the Preakness dashing his chances for the Triple Crown.
