Members of the Arcadia Senior Center make their mark at the Relay for Life Zumbathon.

On Saturday June 15, 2013 several members of the Arcadia Senior Center participated in the Relay for Life / Zumbathon at Santa Anita Racetrack. Team Hiplash's captain, Kristen Cunningham, who teaches Zumba Gold® for the Senior Center recruited many of her students to dance and help raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The Relay for Life is an annual fund raising event put on by the American Cancer Society . This year, James Komen, an Arcadia Zumba® instructor, approached the Zumba® organization to have them participate in the Relay for Life event. Many local Zumba® instructors, including Kristen Cunningham, gave their time and helped make the event a smashing success! There were many dancers and 8 hours of Zumba® on the infield. Team Hiplash's 28 team members included Julie Obando, Eugenia Oeser, Phyllis Rapier, Lisa Reed, Lisa Thomas, Cherryl West and Nancy Yamauchi, plus Alice Rodriguez, Isabel Torres, Julie Lefevre and Marion Hanson from Kristen's Zumba Gold® classes who attended and helped to raise over $5,000 for the American Cancer Society, had a fantastic time at the event.
Kristen Cunningham teaches Zumba Gold® at the Arcadia Senior Center on Wednesday at 11am and Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 5pm at Dana Middle School Gym. Her next 11 week Zumba Gold® session begins July 8th. Arcadia Senior Center, 365 Campus Drive, Arcadia, CA 91007, www.ci.arcadia.ca.us
