Pedestrian Critically Injured Crossing SGV Street

WEST COVINA, CA — A woman was critically injured Thursday when she was struck by a vehicle while walking across a West Covina street.

The incident occurred about 11:30 a.m. at La Puente Road and Sentous Street, West Covina police Lt. P. Benschop said.

The identity and age of the victim, hospitalized in extremely critical condition, was being withheld.

The vehicle's driver remained at the scene, police said.

An investigation was expected to keep the intersection closed to traffic for four to five hours, Benschop said. That intersection should reopen after 5 p.m., Thursday night.
