San Bernardino Man Identified in Fatal San Dimas Freeway Crash
The San Dimas - 57 at 10 freeway was shut down Thursday afternoon following a 4 p.m. accident that took the life of a San Bernardino man.
SAN DIMAS, CA—A motorist killed when his SUV crashed on a freeway connector road in San Dimas was identified today. The crash occurred about 4 p.m. Thursday on the connector from the Pomona (57) Freeway to the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to the preliminary investigation, Machuca was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer at an unsafe speed, and he failed to negotiate a turn, the CHP reported. The SUV crossed a dirt embankment on the east side of the transition road, struck a concrete barrier, and overturned.
Juan Machuca Jr., 22, of San Bernardino died at the scene, coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.
