Thunderstorms across Southland, San Gabriel Mountains as Tropical Storm Passes

Thunderstorms possible this morning, afternoon in Los Angeles County, San Gabriel Mountains, according to the National Weather Service.

ARCADIA, CA — The National Weather Service forecasters are calling for a chance of thunderstorms across Los Angeles County this morning, and over coastal waters.

Thunderstorm activity is possible due to the surge of subtropical moisture meeting an upper-level low pressure located off the coast, remnants of a hurricane that pushed up from Mexico. That area of instability will increase the chance of thunderstorms over Los Angeles County.

"Any thunderstorms over land will be capable of producing dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, gusty and erratic winds, and isolated fire starts," according to an NWS statement. "Remember, if the thunder roars, go indoors."
