• Senior housing completed at 14513 Central Avenue in Baldwin Park (urbanize.city) — A new 54-unit affordable senior housing complex, Central Metro Place, has just opened on Central Avenue near the Baldwin Park Metrolink station, offering apartments for residents 62 and older plus on-site staff. The $24.4 million project adds community rooms, fitness space, and easy transit access, and joins another recent affordable complex nearby as Los Angeles County's senior population and housing costs continue to rise.
   

• Red Cross: Patients are counting on blood and platelet donors to give now (redcross.org) — Baldwin Park residents have several chances this month to donate blood locally, including drives at Baldwin Park Bilingual Seventh-day Adventist Church on October 21 and Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center on October 23. The Red Cross is urging donors of all blood types to book appointments, offering e-gift card incentives and easy scheduling through its website and app, plus volunteer opportunities at drives.
