BALDWIN PARK, CA — The City of Baldwin Park is encouraging residents to prepare for rainy weather and is offering free sandbags to help protect homes and properties, officials announced on Thursday.
The city said residents in need of sandbags can visit the Baldwin Park Public Works City Yard at 13135 E. Garvey Ave. Sandbags will be available Friday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residents should honk at the gate for entry and must show identification to receive the supplies. The city said it will provide sand, shovels and sandbags at no cost.
The announcement comes as communities across Southern California prepare for wet weather and the possibility of a strong El Niño, which could bring increased rainfall to the region.
Residents are encouraged to take precautions ahead of rainy conditions, including protecting their homes and preparing for potential flooding.
