Baldwin Park Soccer and BKB Teams in Playoffs
The reigning CIF divisional champion boys soccer team as well as both the boys' and girls' basketball teams make appearances in the postseason.
The winter sports season was a successful one for Baldwin Park as the boys' soccer and the boys' and girls' basketball teams each earned a berth in the postseason that begins this week.
The reigning CIF Division 5 champion boys' soccer team looks to defend its title when it travels to Monrovia Thursday afternoon for a first-round match at 3 p.m.

Baldwin Park (13-6-2, 9-3 Valle Vista) started out slowly, losing three of its first six league matches. But then it finished strong by winning its final six matches to finish 9-3, which was good enough for the team to enter as the league's number two representative.
Both soccer teams are evenly matched as each scores 2.2 goals per game on average. To advance, Baldwin Park has to slow down Monrovia's Mr. James "Do Everything" Alewine, who leads his team with 11 goals and 7 assists. Goalkeeper Martin Soto allowed 1.0 goal per game.

The boys' basketball team has made the postseason the past five seasons, and it looks to get past the first round, like it did two seasons ago when it was able to advance as far as the quarterfinals before losing to Mark Keppel. Last season, the team was ousted in the first round by Foothill.
After dropping two of its first three league games, the Braves would bounce back, and pick up big wins along the way against league frontrunners Covina and Wilson to earn its trip to the postseason.
Baldwin Park boys basketball team (16-12, 7-5 Valle Vista) faces its toughest test this year as it travels to perennial powerhouse Leuzinger Friday night. Tip off is at 7 p.m.
The Baldwin Park girls basketball team will also make its third consecutive trip to the postseason. The team visits Ghar Friday night. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
