Baldwin Park Poodle Luna Rescued After Harrowing Shelter Experience

Baldwin Park Animal Shelter friends breathed a sigh of relief as this disheveled poodle found a way out of the cage and into hearts of all.

BALDWIN PARK, CA — Facebook friends of the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter were shocked by pictures of this poodle who was desperately in need of a home. For many animals at shelters, it does take a village for their rescue, medical care, and placement.

Thanks to the group: No Paws Left Behind, and the donations of many others, this poodle found her fur-ever home.

On June 6, this lovely lady from Baldwin Park animal shelter building four, was just "pretending to sleep," according to facebook posts from No Paws Left Behind.

"One eye gone, matted fur, either obese or other issues," volunteer Karen Klink said over Facebook. "I quietly approached her and she came to me in a loving manner. Not knowing anything about her injuries, I carefully petted her and held her for a while."

The support for the dog now named "Luna" has been overwhelming, with nearly 400 responses and shares across the country.

"Luna is the first picture of a dog from Baldwin I ever posted on my Facebook," Klink said in her post. "I put about 3 names of people I knew on the post and I can't believe the response. I know nothing about photography. I'm merely a volunteer who tries to reduce misery in animals and knew that the animals at Baldwin Park Animal Shelter needed help."

Drawing the attention of No Paws Left Behind, Luna was at last removed from the shelter and on her way to finding a place to call her own.

According to Klink, there are 180 homeless and many hopeless dogs right now at Baldwin Park Animal shelter.

"They need more voices than what they have now," she said. "People tell me, 'you can't save them all,' and I have two comments - One, 'why not?' and Two, 'Not with that attitude.'"
