Baldwin Park Resident Identified In Pedestrian Freeway Fatality, Police Say

A motorist on the 605 struck and a man who was walking on that freeway Tuesday night. The victim was identified as a Baldwin Park resident.

BALDWIN PARK, CA — A man walking the 605 freeway was struck and killed, authorities said.

On Wednesday, the Los Angeles County Coroner's office identified the pedestrian, struck by a vehicle while he was walking on the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Baldwin Park.

Louis Martinez, 27, of Baldwin Park died at the scene at just before 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at Ramona Boulevard, according to the coroner's office and the California Highway Patrol.

The motorist stopped and was interviewed by officers but was not arrested, the CHP reported. It was unclear why Martinez was walking on the freeway.
