Chemical Spill at Industry Plant Prompts Evacuations
Los Angeles County Fire and Hazmat responded to the scene and evacuated five homes.

Residents evacuated Friday morning due to a chemical spill at a nearby City of Industry plant have now returned to their homes.
At 6:55 a.m., a 911 call dispatched Los Angeles County firefighters to an industrial plant in the 500 block of South Azusa Avenue between Main and Hurley streets. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they smelled a chemical vapor at the location and evacuated five homes immediately down wind from the business, said County Fire spokesman Tony Imbrenda.
Hazmat responded to the scene and mitigated the release, but it is unknown at this time what chemical the vapor was or the cause of the spill, Imbrenda said. No injuries were reported and no workers at the plant or residents were transported to hospitals.
