City Approves Cameras for Police Cars

The Baldwin Park City Council approved the purchase of four cameras and accessories to be placed inside the City's police cars.

The new cameras and accessories will reportedly replace four inoperable cameras. The Police Department will also be able to replace six officer-worn microphones. The total cost to replace the equipment is $29,430.

The cameras and related equipment will be provided by L3 Mobile-Vision, Inc. The city bypassed the formal bidding process, stating that a new company would require a totally new system and infrastructure.

Sufficient funding for the news equipment comes from the City's Federal Asset Forfeiture cost center.
